INF Import opens Chinese factory

At the beginning of May, INF Import opened an assembly factory in Shenzhen, China. This investment enables the company to increase its delivery flexibility while also further enhancing its environmental and ethical credentials.

The assembly factory currently employs 14 people, 6 of these in quality control and product development, the rest in production. "By taking control of the production phase, we can be even more competitive in the Scandinavian market," reveals Niklas Håkansson, MD of INF Import. "This applies particularly where it’s a question of large quantities."

INF Import previously purchased finished products from various subcontractors. Thanks to the expansion in China, the company can now assure quality throughout production. "It also means that, right from the manufacturing stage, we now fully tailor our products to customer wishes," states Niklas Håkansson.

The environment and ethics – major considerations
As an importer, INF Import takes an active role in ensuring that all its electrical and electronic products are recycled in an environmentally correct manner. In Sweden, INF Import is a member of a nationwide recycling system. The opening of the new assembly factory in China is the next step in the company’s environmental initiatives.

"For us, it’s important that all our subcontractors work in an environmentally sustainable way," explains Niklas Håkansson. Consequently, the company follows a unique practice of regularly visiting its subcontractors to ensure that they respect environmental requirements, do not employ child labour, have reasonable working hours and do not use premises that present a health hazard.
